When Chris led us in prayer tonight, he thanked God for our hobbit hole, Casa Doyle, or simply, home. We arrived today a smidge before 4 PM, extremely happy to stretch our legs and climb out of the car for good. This trip was quite the saga, every bit as much as our trip in July. We left Camp Kreitzer at 5 PM Monday, planning to get just a few hours down the road before stopping. Instead, we made it to Knoxville which set us up to wrap the trip up Tuesday with an 11:30 PM arrival time. We were all like the proverbial horses smelling the barn when we hit a wall--of traffic. We came to a complete stop outside of Baton Rouge. And stayed stopped or barely moving for hours as we inched off of highway 12 and onto a detour. Louisiana is now "the state that must not be named". As it turned out though, there was a bright side. We got off at our first opportunity and sat down to a real meal together--the seven of us. A first since we left Kingwood. What a great dinner it was. We laughed and enjoyed being back together, just us, our funny little band. After dinner, we headed to a hotel Chris found on Priceline where we had plenty of room, slept like royalty and swam in a pool with a waterfall. And now, we're glad to be home. I'm planning a post for those of you who have not had the opportunity to leave home for five weeks at a time yearly. The goods and the bads, the ups and the downs. A sneak preview of one of the downs? Think bugs. And cobwebs. It gets me thinking about what will be left when we're all gone. Pretty humbling but that's morbid so why dwell? Here's an up--so much family time that you feel lost without them. That's a good thing I think. But more on that later. Pictures coming too. I'm still having technical difficulties (big sigh). Do any of you know of a house elf proficient in all things Mac?
Bye for now.
Happy to hear you guys made it home safely...and that your home was still safe:) Look forward to seeing more pics of your fun vacation at Camp Kreitzer.
